Armenian town named Goris might be a home of pyramids!

Image
Goris is an Armenian town located in the south of the Republic of Armenia. It is one of the ancient settlements, which has numerous caves where people used to live. This area contains a number of pyramid shaped objects, which might be the remains of pyramids stemming from the past. Below is the panoramic view of Goris, together with the parallels drawn with Egypt’s well know Giza valley which is the home of ancient pyramids. The similarities are obvious!  Each of the identified pyramids in Goris area is worth of its specific and dedicated study, as well as seeing it during different seasons of the weather.  Keep on following to the next posts of this blog and more specific pictures of potential pyramids from this area will be coming soon!

Nemrut, another Armenian Pyramid!

Image
Mount Nemrut, which itself resembles a pyramid on which the ancient statues, believed to be old Armenian objects of warship, are located in the territory of historic Armenia (nowadays the territory of Turkey). Mt Nemrut, Kahta is a natural mountain (2150m), with a 50 meter artificial peak built on top. It was constructed as a tomb during the period 80 B.C-72 B.C. If pyramids are meant to represent mountains, the builders of this one have gone a step further by placing it on top of a real mountain. Not just an artificial mound, this site features huge (10 meter high) statues.

Pyramids are also illustrated in the paintings referring to the ancient times of Armenia!

While focusing on Armenian pyramids, we should also refer to a very rare paintings from a 19 th century Italian artists. In Venice, several Italian painters, by the order of the Mkhitarian Seminary, have painted several pictures of the ancient Armenian kings in order to illustrate a book on Armenian history, and in their paintings one can spot pyramids and burg-shaped hill in the background. As it is known, when creating paintings for a historical books, the painters usually do a thorough research and enrich the paintings with the artifacts and structures of the period which they are illustrating, therefore this can be another prospect for consideration about the availability of pyramids in Armenia.
