Potentially More Pyramids in Goris, Armenia
The cozy town Goris, which
is located in the south of Armenia, is an amazing place with its nature and
surrounded mountains and hills. Throughout its history, Goris has been
known as Kores and Gorayk. However,
there are several explanations for the origin of the name. It is supposed that
the name Goris is derived from the Indo-European
prelanguage words "gor" (rock), "es" (to be), i.e.
Goris/Kores meaning a rocky place. There was a dwelling in the ancient times in
the same area of the town. The name Goris had many variants including:
Goristsa, Kores, Gores, Gorayk, Goru, and Geryusy. The area of Goris has
been settled since the Stone Age. Goris was first mentioned in the history by
the Urartian period. King Rusa I of Urartu who reigned between
735 and 713 BC, left a cuneiform, where he mentioned that among the 23
countries conquered by him, Goristsa country was one of them.
The scientists suppose that it is the same Goris.
As a very ancient town, Goris might be the home of several pyramids and
some of the hills and rocks that are surrounding Goris area, might potentially
be pyramids and other types of shrines stemming from the ancient times. Below
are shown some of the pictures resembling pyramids in Goris.
The pyramid above is very evenly geometrically
shaped and as in some other examples, it might the case when the basis had been
taken the natural relief and then the several man-made walls were added. And
due to the unstable and severe weather conditions in Armenia, which is the very
cold winters and the hot summers, as well as fully experiencing spring and
summer by their climatic exposures during each calendar year, this particular
pyramid might have been camouflaged, integrated and hidden in the nature.
This other semi-round shaped object above might also
be some mysterious structure again over-integrated with the nature. It stands
so separate from the surrounding, with its unique geometrically shaped semi-sphere!
A particular attention should be paid to this
extraordinary pyramid's pictures of which are shown above. It is situated on the top of the hill. One of its sides, and maybe the
man-made one, is totally separated from the surrounding and has a very limited
and rare plant coverage on it. It might be the case that due to being man-constructed, it is not serving as a favorable place for the plants to grow extensively.
And lastly, on the topic of potential pyramids
in Goris and how they can be embedded in the nature over millenniums, a comparison
can be made with another ancient settlement from Goris area called Khndzoresk, the
pictures of which are shown below. This is a vivid example on how over centuries
the fascinating man-made structures, which are done in “close cooperation” with
the nature, eventually can get embedded by the nature if those structures remain
abandoned for an enduring period.
And now look at these amazing pictures again, and one with a very simple visual reference can notice how it might resemble a pyramids on tops.
And finally to conclude, above is shown the picture extracted
from another hill-sides of Goris, which might entail so much of mysterious and
uncovered in it!
Keep following to this blog for more amazing
findings of potential pyramids from the other parts of Armenia!
